Elaine Mayes will be presenting her work from 'Recently' at NYU this Wednesday, April 15 @ noon. NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, 721 Broadway 8th floor. Mayes will also be signing copies of her book 'Recently' this coming weekend at AIPAD (NY, NY) on Friday, April 17 from 2-4pm at Robert Bruge/20th Century Photographs (booth #208).

The documentary film 'From Darkroom to Daylight' features Harvey Wang's interviews with more than 20 important figures in the field of photography. Each shares their personal perspective on this monumental shift in the practice of photography, and how it has impacted their work. The stories are told through studio visits, artists' work, and archival imagery. The film is screening at museums, film and photography festivals, and educational institutions. George Lawson Gallery (San Francisco, CA) presents Tama Hochbaum's recent work from her series 'Silver Screen', dealing with dance. For some time Hochbaum has been capturing televised content with her iPhone, in particular films from the 1940s, organizing her shots into grids and printing the digital files onto aluminum. The series, which began as an homage to her late mother, has evolved into an exploration of generationally stacked technologies for delivering media, their correlation with personal memory, and in juxtaposition, the accumulation of shared cultural references.
