SAVE THE DATE: TONIGHT, Book Launch for Testament
Posted by Daylight Books on
TONIGHT is the release party for the late photojournalist Chris Hondros’ book Testament, which will take place at the Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn. The book includes work spanning over a decade; it includes images from Afghanistan, to the West Bank, from Libya to Egypt, all of which capture the human element of international conflict. As his website notes, in his photographs we see “a jubilant Liberian rebel fighter exalt during a firefight, a U.S. Marine remove Saddam Hussein’s portrait from an Iraqi classroom, American troops ride confidently in a thin-skinned unarmored Humvee during the first months of the Iraq war”. This book is the most thorough complication of the Pulitzer Prize nominated photographer's work to date.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Curated by Ruben Natal-San Miugel, Up, Close Personal brings together an eclectic group of some 33 renown photographers including but not limited to Annie Leibotwitz, Alex Prager and Daylight Book's recently published photographer, Adrain Chesser. As the title of the exhibition indicates, Up, Close Personal investigates the ways in which these talented photographers approach their work, ideas, artistic processes, and the ulterior message relayed through their efforts. In short, the show aims to demonstrate the ways in which the work influences not only the artist producing it, but also the viewer. The aesthetic values and techniques within this group of photographers is vast, and this exhibition is guaranteed to evoke a range of emotion.
WHEN: Opening Reception Friday April 4th, 2014 6-9pm (show runs through May 11th)
WHERE: Fuchs Projects Gallery, 56 Bogart #1E Brooklyn NY, 11206
