Venice Arts' seeks Director of Public Programs

Venice Arts (www.venice-arts.org) is building its gallery and public educational programs, while increasing its management and support of offsite programs and special projects. Working under the Executive Director, this position will be key to growth in these areas, including implementing Venice Arts’ curatorial vision for its gallery, emphasizing both documentary and participant photography and film, and implementing and managing a schedule of adult workshops, and related activities. This position will also absorb responsibilities for existing programs, including, as examples only, touring exhibitions, work related to our Institute for Photographic Empowerment, and key partner relationships.

ONWARD: A Journey For Emerging Photographers

Project Basho
is pleased to announce ONWARD ‘10, an annual juried photography
competition exclusively featuring the work of new and emerging
photographers with unique vision and talent. The theme for ONWARD is
open, and any photographic medium from historical processes,
traditional silver prints, chromogenic prints to digital prints can be
submitted for consideration. Debbie Fleming Caffery, noted documentary
photographer and Guggenheim Fellow, will judge this year’s competition.

Selected work will be featured in a group exhibition at Project Basho
Gallery in February and March 2010 as well as in Project Basho’s online
gallery. Special recognition will be awarded in the form of cash prizes
and the opportunity for a two-person show at Project Basho Gallery.
Additionally, a selection of artists will be chosen to exhibit their
work on Flak Photo (http://www.flakphoto.com/), a daily photography website that celebrates the art and culture of photography online. Produced by Andy Adams, the site highlights new series work, book projects and gallery exhibitions from an international community of contributors. Project 5's Portfolio Review: Applications due November 3

Project 5 is about to launch their second group Portfolio Review in New York City. Project 5 is a unique collaboration between Amador Gallery, ClampArt, Daniel Cooney Fine Art, Foley Gallery and Sasha Wolf Gallery that has grown out of years of friendship and shared ambitions in the photography market.

Project 5 hopes to foster a supportive environment for artists to receive constructive criticism and build an ongoing dialogue about their work with art world professionals.

Humble Arts Foundation: 31 Women in Art Photography

In March 2010, in honor of Women’s History Month, Humble Arts Foundation (hafny.org) will present its second edition of 31 Women in Art Photography,
a six-week exhibition celebrating 31 of the most innovative women in
emerging art photography. The exhibition will be co-curated by
Charlotte Cotton and Jon Feinstein, and will take place at Affirmation
Arts.

After considering Humble Arts Foundation’s mission to advance the careers of emerging art photographers, the Humble Arts Foundation has decided to eliminate the age barrier for our 31 exhibition. Humble Arts Foundation has always affirmed that “emerging” is not analogous with age. Therefore, effective immediately, women photographers, regardless of age are eligible and encouraged to apply for the newly titled 31 Women in Art Photography exhibition.
