In her recent book, Guggenheim recipient Nancy Davidson celebrates and satirizes the mythic American cowgirl through a combination of archival images and Davidson's own sculptures and installations. Come to the Betty Cuningham Gallery (11 Rivington Street, NYC) on November 14th from 4-6pm for a book signing event with the artist.

Join the artist and the Daylight team for an opening celebration and book signing on September 25th from 6-9pm at the Daylight Project Space in Hillsborough, NC! The exhibition will be on view through October 19th. Todd Forsgren creates intimate portraits of birds at the moment of their capture in mist nets as part of scientific surveys and ornithological research. ARTIST TALK & BOOK SIGNING – Nancy Davidson: 'Cowgirl'

Nancy Davidson will give a talk and sign copies of her recent book on Wednesday, September 9, at 6:30 PM at the New York Academy of Art. In her sculpture and installation works, the New York-based artist, recipient of a 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship, celebrates and satirizes popular culture. A central example is the American cowgirl. This publication combines archival cowgirl photographs with images of Davidson's sculptures, photographs of photographs and installations. More info

BOOK SIGNING – ZALMAÏ: 'Dread and Dreams'

Zalmaï will be signing copies of 'Dread and Dreams' at The 27th International Festival of Photojournalism, Visa Pour L'Image, Perpignan, France on September 4th from 5-6pm. The Afghan-born photographer was forced to flee to Switzerland at the age of 15 after the 1980 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. As a freelance photographer, Zalmaï has spent years capturing the human cost of war around the world and in his home country, Afghanistan, where he also sees signs of hope. 'Dread and Dreams' brings together photographs Zalmaï made between 2008 and 2013 against the backdrop of the 14-year U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan that culminated in 2014...
