Clifford Owens does not like being called a performance artist. Rather, he is a photographer who utilizes his body to engage both the lens and the audience. In his first exhibition at a New York museum, aptly entitled Anthology, he presents the evidence of his engagement with a comprehensive display of still and moving images that are not documents of performances, but discreet works of art. Here, digital and analog production exemplifies Owen’s belief that performance art is a form of photography.Clifford Owens: Anthology is currently on view through March 12, 2012 at MoMA PS1 and is organized by Christopher Y. Lew, Assistant Curator of MoMA PS1. Owens is represented by On Stellar Rays, New York, NY. http://onstellarrays.com/clifford-owens-anthology-performance/
