The fourth Prix Pictet focussed on the theme of Power, and opened with an awards ceremony and exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London in October 2012. Enormous crowds saw Luc Delahaye announced as the winner by esteemed architect lord Norman Foster, with Simon Norfolk being awarded the Commission to visit Afghanistan with Medair. Photographs from the 12 shortlisted artists, including that of Jacqueline Hassink, are currently touring the world, next opening at Beirut Exhibition Centre in June. The fifth cycle of the Prix Pictet will begin with the theme announcement at Les Rencontres d'Arles in July.

The 10th edition of the annual Auckland Festival of Photography runs from May 30 to June 21, 2013. The highlight of its signature programme is the Talking Culture Symposium on photographers "Response" to natural disasters featuring international work from Magnum's Chriss Steele-Perkins (UK), Files Crook (AUS), Michel Varisco (US), Andrew Quilty (AUS), Fofoga Setoga Tuala (Samoa/NZ), Kit Wise (UK/AUS) and Allan McDonald (NZ).

The Auckland Festival of Photography will also feature exhibitions from China's Pingyao International PHotography Festival by Chen Haiwen (Shanghai), as well as a range of independant artist shows: Paul Batt (AUS), Fernando Montiel-Klimt (Mexico) and Jim Ramer, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Photography at Parsons The New School of Design in New York, who will be presenting RE: Conceptualizing Vision.
