Join Us For an Exhibition at the Daylight Project Space of Aaron Vincent Elkaim's FORT MCKAY: SLEEPING WITH THE WOLVES, 2012 Daylight Photo Awards Winner

For four months in 2011, Aaron Vincent Elkaim lived among the residents of Fort Mckay, in northeastern Alberta Canada. Fort Mckay sits on top of the Athabasca oil sands, and is also the home of citizens from the Cree and Dene First Nations. The reserve relies nearly exclusively on the extraction of oil. Through his photographic interactions with the population of Fort Mckay, Elkaim explores the ways in which members of these indigenous communities negotiate the tensions between modernity, development and age old traditions.

In the Gutter by David Lykes Keenan, Now Available for Purchase

'In The Gutter' is a small, quirky book of black & white photographs that points a sharp stick at one of the cardinal rules of photo books. The gutter area of a book is generally avoided in photo books but it is used as a creative element in 'In The Gutter'. The photographs assembled for the book exploit this unusual layout. 16th Annual Biel/Bienne Festival of Photorgaphy September 7-30, 2012, Biel/Bienne Switzerland

The Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography is the only annual photography festival in Switzerland to celebrate contemporary photography. Each year in September, the works of twenty photographers of Swiss and international descents display their work in known and unusual places in the city of Biel. Visitors discover the art of the photographic tour.

On the occasion of their 16th edition, the Photo Days of Biel question the ambiguous relationships that unfold between voyeurism and exhibitionism in the presence of a camera. The festival will host 23 exhibitions of photographers from 10 countries - Iran to the United States via Spain and Switzerland.

Promoted by the Begihandi collective, GETXOPHOTO is a festival dedicated to photography that takes place in Getxo (Basque Country). GETXOPHOTO supports the exploration of formats and unconventional exhibition spaces. Every three years the festival works with a different curator to explore a theme.

Through this partnership, you can get discounted, constructive reviews of your work by some very talented working editors and curators (ahem, including folks who work right here) at a significant discount.

Reviewers include Whitney Johnson, photo director at The New Yorker; Darren Ching of Klompching Gallery in New York; Jamie Goldenberg of Bloomberg Business Week; Jason Houston of Orion magazine; and Rebecca Home, a veteran of Discover and The Wall Street Journal, among other individuals. Photographers may submit up to 20 images, specify at length the kind of feedback they're seeking, and select the reviewer of their choice. Reviews are delivered in writing within about 10 days, unless you order a rush.

Matt Black's 'People of Clouds' in Orion Magazine

Matt Black's project The People of Clouds is a ten-year exploration of environmental collapse and social erosion in southern Mexico's Mixteca mountains. This region is home to some of the world's olders farming villages many of which are on the verge of extinction as land degradation and erosion cripple the soil as migration tears families apart. Coming this fall, a new body of work from this project will be released, in collaboration with Orion Magazine.

2012 marks the inaugural year of the Medium Festival of Photography, a 3-day photography event with a fresh line up of lectures, workshops, portfolio reviews, and a public exhibition.
