Twenty years after the Nicaraguan civil way ended, Kevin Kunishi traveled throughout the highlands of Northern Nicarague. Kunishi revisits the location in an attempt to discover and document the legacy that this protracted war left behind. A selection of the resulting portraits of survivors, both Sandinistas and Contras, as well as exquisite landscapes are gathered together here in Kunishi's first monograph.

The photographs within Los Restos are notational records of the experience of the collective memory of those involved. Although philosophies, the survivors are now bound by a landscape filled with physical and psychological scars. The markers of affiliation are slowly fading, but the horros of war remain.

The exhibition will be on view from October 11-November 11, 2012

The opening and book signing will take place on October 11 from 6-8PM

The Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography is the only annual photography festival in Switzerland to celebrate contemporary photography. Each year in September, the works of twenty photographers of Swiss and International descents display their work in known and unusual places in the city of Biel. Visitors discover the art of the photographic tour.

On the occasion of their 16th edition, the Photo Days of Biel question the ambiguous relationships that unfold between voyeurism and exhibitionism in the presence of a camera. The festival will host 23 exhibitions of photographers from 10 countries - Iran to the United States via Spain and Switzerland.

Every other April, an international set of photographers and reviewers gather in Portland, Oregon for a five-day celebration of photography that includes lectures, workshops, and exhibition collaborations. Intensive portfolio reviews are at the heart of the Festival. Reviewers are selected for their experience, involvement, and commitment to advancing the work of emerging and mid-career artists. Over the years, many participants have made contacts that have led directly to exhibitions, publications, and sales, in addition to receiving useful critiques.

By providing a venue for in-depth, informed, and supportive dialogue between photographers, gallery owners, curators, publishers, editors, and consultants, Photolucida promotes the culture of photography locally, nationally, and internationally. The next Portfolio Reviews Festival will take place in April 2013.

"ROAD" is a photo competition and exhibition to be judged and curated by W. M. Hunt, a well-known collector, curator and consultant based in New York City. "ROAD" is meant to include a wide range of photographs from landscape to portraiture, anything that suggests a journey. The road can be personal: a psychological or spiritual passage. Or it can be literal. The range is from transcendence to travel... It can takeplace in your head or in your backyard or in your car.
