The late Michael P. Smith is an award winning freelance documentary photographer capturing the music, culture, and folklife of New Orleans, Louisiana. When looking at his images one can see the energy and emotions that Smith documented during these musical and highly animated times. In light of his acheivements and his photographic eye, the New Orleans Photo Alliance has created a fund to aid photographers residing in the Gulf Coast states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. The Michael P. Smith Fund is calling for photographers whos work is artistically developed and committed into a long term cultural documentary project. The submission period is open until March 30th, 2012.
